Our vision for Nutchel

Disconnect to reconnect

Nutchel is a European tourism brand created in 2018 by two cofounders, Clémence Rousseau-Dumarcet and Bernard Van Laethem, who wanted to create a new sustainable tourism experience.

Disconnect to reconnect – in a cabin that combines a return to basics with an outdoor lifestyle. We select promising natural environments that were once inhabited but have since been abandoned by humans. We give nature back its voice, replant vegetation and build our cabins, limiting our impact on ecosystems to the bare minimum.

We are convinced that restoring this balance and giving meaning back to the bonds that humans forge with their environment allow them to reconnect with one another.

Always with the same starting point

It always starts the same, as the story of a place once inhabited and now left behind by humans. With our team, we work on erasing our human print on nature and on giving a second breath to nature.

"Architects who dream of houses that act as lungs, houses that act as sieves, letting air through, filtering the outside, but also mindful of what they themselves exhale, and which actually do us good" - Marielle Macé, Respire

At its heart, we delicately, gently, and quietly place our cosy cabins. There, one is free to create a unique connection with the surroundings during a refined, simple, and profound experience. To rediscover their capacity for oxygenation, and, thanks to nature, inspires, expires, and breathes.

Our mission: to (re)connect

Create places that allow our guests to (re)connect

  • Through contact with nature and silence
  • By taking them out of their comfort zone and disrupting their habits and daily routines
  • Through the extreme cosiness of the cabin, which become just like a nest for them
  • Through the warmth of the fire, the surrounding nature, and the light

Build a relationship with our surroundings

  • By cleaning and bringing nature back into our domains, such as removing unnatural elements, restoring soil permeability, recreating a strong environmental dynamic...
  • By making sure we are a true part of the local ecosystem of each location, such as working together with local producers to provide food to our guests, building teams with employees coming from the surroundings...
  • By respecting the places we are located in, through our operational practices
