Spring in the Ardennes

Written by

Julie

There is always sunshine after rain (or snow)! So once again, it’s this time of the year, when nature awakes after being in hibernation and one can hear the birds chirping again. We are looking forward to enjoy the fresh spring air and regain some more inspiration and vitamin D. What about you?

Our Cosy Cabins’ great windows offer you an overlook on nature showing off its beautiful green colour. Wondering how you could enjoy your spring stay at Nutchel to the fullest? Follow our little guide here below and hop into a new micro adventure!

Three friends doing a break during a biking trip in the Ardennes

Fishing at Nutchel

Have you ever dreamed of the most quiet and serene morning, miles away from your busy daily life? We sure have! There are so many rich-in-fish rivers in the Ardennes, where fishing connoisseurs spend hours trying to catch a fish. The Sûre river which runs along our domain is no exception: buy your fishing license at the reception, borrow one of our fishing rods for free and try to catch the biggest fish of them all! The spring’s quietness will appease your soul and give you a much-needed boost, whether you are the biggest fishing fan or just trying fishing for the first time. Ready, set, fish!

Biking on the RAVel and the Mardasson memorial

According to the European cyclist, the Ardennes’ hilly landscapes and green forests make the region one of the best European cycling spots! Straddle one of our rental bikes and go for a bike ride to Bastogne for the day by bike via the RAVel, a secured bike path passing by our forest village. You will finish this ride by the visit of the great Mardasson memorial, which was erected by the USA to honour the American soldiers who fought the Bugle Battle during WW2. This impressive building overlooks the surroundings with a 360° view. If you are here on April 24th, 2022, you might even cross paths with the Liège – Bastogne – Liège bike race… A must for every history, biking, and beautiful landscapes’ lovers!

Le Parc à gibier de Saint-Hubert

Spring is the birthing season for many forest animals! The animal park Saint-Hubert will give you the opportunity to admire the forest inhabitants such as deers or wild pigs and their cute newborns from very close during a walk in the woods. Could you think of a better time to learn more about local wildlife and the same time amaze your kids?

The Bock Casemates

This wide network of tunnels and galleries directly carved inside the rock was one of the main defence locations of the area in the times of war between 1644 and the end of WW2. Have fun getting lost in the galleries, on the footsteps of the soldiers who lived in these tunnels and enjoy the beautiful plunging view on several Luxembourg’s most beautiful neighbourhoods. Such a unique perspective!

So it turns out, that our Cosy Cabins at Nutchel Les Ardennes are the perfect starting point for micro-adventures and beautiful discoveries. We can’t wait to share this spring with you!
